Just a technical/practical addition...please, pay attention to the short-term reliability of the PANASONIC EW TQ2-12VDC relay, since I encountered two faulty units out of 24 installed... perhaps a bad batch, but keep your eyes/ears opened...

I guess testing before soldering is good advice....

As Nicolai pointed out, testing is the only solution to avoid a painful desoldering of a faulty relay. However, testing this particular component is a tricky task, since you have to wire it up temporarily (we are talking about tiny pins) to switch it on and you need a dedicated power circuit... actually, I desoldered the faulty ones...

What was faulty? No actual shifting of poles or no "click" at all? In the latter case checking should be rather straightforward.

the relay was apparently clicking but no contact was formed, if I remember it correctly.
